The Saga of Vechur
In this era, where many of the wild and domestic species are facing extinction, saving a rare breed of cow from oblivion means a lot to those who love and care animals. A rare breed, with an average length of 124 cm and height of 87 cm, the Vechur cow from the village of Vechoor in Kottayam district of Kerala, India is the smallest of all cow breeds in the world as per the Guinness Book of Records.
A conservation program in the Kerala Agriculture University led by Sosamma Iype, Professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics turned out to be a milestone in the preservation of this unique breed of cow. Watch this video for more on Vechur cow.
