Attappadi Black - a Goat Breed
One of the largest tribal settlements in Kerala, Attappadi is a protected area situated on the north-eastern side of Palakkad district. Bestowed with immense natural beauty, Attappadi Reserve Forest is an informal buffer zone neighboring the Silent Valley National Park to the West.
Irulas, Mudugas and Kurumbars are some of the tribals live here and they worship 'Malleeswaran' - the mountain peak as a huge 'Siva-linga' (the Linga is the venerated image of Lord Siva).
The place is also famous for a Government goat farm where you can find 'Attapadi Black'- a goat variety.
