Vagamon - the place for paragliding enthusiasts
Vagamon is a hill station in the Idukki district of Kerala, South India and is a green bit of land surrounded by three hills namely Thangal Hill, Murukan Hill, and Kurishumala.
The hills of Vagamon are covered with green grass round the year and the place is referred to as the Scotland of Asia because of this overwhelming greenery.
Vagamon hills are ideal for picnicking, sightseeing and trekking. It is also the only place in Kerala with the paragliding facility. Vagamon is situated about 3000 m above sea level and has got a 10 km ridge, which makes paragliding possible.
ASSTA, or the Adventure Sports and Sustainable Tourism Academy in association with Kerala Tourism organize annual International Paragliding Festival at Vagamon.
