Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram
Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, is one of the oldest and popular schools in Kerala. Located at Thycaud, in the middle of the city, it is one of the oldest schools affiliated to the Kerala State Board of Education. This institution was started in 1885 by the Government of Travancore and was shifted to the current location in 1903.
The main building of this school is noted for its European style of architecture, which was erected during the reign of Sri Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma. Today, there are around 4500 students in this school studying from 1st to 12th standard.
The Model School is the alma mater of famous Malayalam cine actor Mohanlal, noted film director Priyadarsan, Malayalam playback singer M. G. Sreekumar, Jiji Thomson I.A.S., Bharatbhooshan I.A.S. and several other famous personalities.
