Gladeye Bush Brown or Mycalesis patina

Gladeye Bush Brown or Mycalesis patina is endemic to southern India. It belongs to the Brown family of butterflies and is commonly found in tropical and semi tropical evergreen forests and bamboo forests.
The upper side of the Gladeye Bush Brown is brown coloured, signifying its name. Both wings have bright yellow marginal lines. The forewings have two black ocelli: one is medium large and the other is comparatively small, surrounded with an orange -yellow iris and an orange -yellow triangular patch. Wingspan is 40- 45 mm.
Gladeyes fly close to the floor and is the weakest flier of the genus. Fallen berries, fruits and sugary sap are the favourite foods to them.
India and Sri Lanka are two regions where Gladeye Bush Browns are mostly found.
