Cruiser or Vindula erota saloma
Mostly found in the evergreen forests below 2500m in South India, Cruiser or Vindula erota saloma is abundant in Kerala during the wet months.
The upper side of the male is yellowish brown. Base and apex of the forewing and terminal area of hind wing are dark. There are two wavy black lines on the outer margin and one irregular line across a disc in both the wings. Female is bluish green or dark greenish brown with similar markings as in male and with a prominent white band across the disc. Wingspan is 72-110mm.
Cruisers are fond of Lantana flowers and prefer to fly out between 9 am and 10am in the morning. Normally. They fly high and are fond of damp patches and even feed on carnivore droppings and rotten crabs.
Cruisers are found in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand along with India.
