A home away from home for birds
The Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is situated near the beach of Vallikkunnu, in the district of Kozhikode. It is spread over an area of 3 sq. km., and encompasses part of the seashore as well as many small islands of the Kadalundi River.
November to April are the months when Kadalundi is best populated by visiting and local birds which include cormorants, sandpipers, herons, egrets, gulls, terns, and brahmini kites with their chestnut plumage and white heads. The sanctuary is temporary home to more than sixty species of migratory birds.
