Paramekkavu Parameswaran

This video features the late Paramekkavu Parameswaran, an elephant with all majestic features needed for the animal. Paramekkavu at Thrissur, Kerala is famous for the temple dedicated to Bhagavathi (goddess).

In Kerala, elephants have significant role in the culture and tradition. It is very nice to see the richly caparisoned elephants during festive occasions in temples. Seen in the video is Paramekkavu Parameswaran who had taken the thidambu (replica of main idol) of Paramekkavu Bhagavathi for 15 years.

The elephant was owned by Paramekkavu Devaswom and was a proud symbol of the place. He died on January 31, 2005 and was 55 years old.
