Punnathur Kotta in Guruvayoor, Kerala
Punnathur Kotta, literally meaning Punnathur Palace in Guruvayoor, Kerala state of India, was once the palace of a local ruler, which now is home to elephants belonging to the Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple.
The fort is now known as Anakkotta (Elephant Fort) and houses more than 60 jumbos. It is the largest elephant camp in India. Every year during the annual festival of the temple, an elephant race (Anayottam) participated by the jumbos in this camp is held at the temple premises. Most of the elephants in this camp are ritual offerings made by the devotees of Lord Guruvayoorappan.
