Padmanabhapuram Palace Part 2
A prominent structure among the Padmanabhapuram Palace complex is the Upparikka Malika or Upparikka Palace, built by King Marthanda Varma in 1750 AD, who dedicated it to Lord Padmanabha. The video is about this palace unit. One of the main attractions of this palace unit is the mural paintings found in the third floor, numbering about 30 panels.
The Padmanabhapuram Palace is situated at Thuckalay in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu and is about 65 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, which was earlier the centre of erstwhile Travancore royal family.
The palace these days is taken care of by the Government of Kerala through the State Department of Archaeology.
