Pattambi nercha - the Pattambi mosque festival
Pattambi Nercha is the annual festival of the Pattambi Mosque, located in the district of Palakkad in Kerala, South India. It is celebrated in memory of the Muslim saint Aloor Valiya Pookunjikoya Thangal.
The entire town of Pattambi becomes active during this festival and is lit up magnificently. As in the case of many religious festivals of Kerala, a colorful procession involving caparisoned elephants is a part of the celebrations.
Performances of duff-muttu, kolkali, traditional orchestras of panchavadyam and thayambaka are among the other highlights of the festival.
