Paramparya - Ashtamudi Arts and Crafts Festival
The Ashtamudi Arts and Crafts festival or Paramparya (the word Paramparya is derived from the Malayalam word for tradition) is an exhibition of the traditional arts, crafts and architectural themes of Kerala.
The workshops and live demonstrations of traditional arts and crafts organized during the fairs are opportunities to interact with the master craftsmen from all over the State. The festival also includes an international craft film festival, seminars and talks.
Cultural performances by folk and tribal artistes from different parts of India and sessions from the music tradition of India will also be held here. The Paramparya is conducted at the Ashramam maidan, on the precincts of the Ashramam picnic village located in the 48 acre Guest House Complex. The complex stands on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake, and is a key tourism centre of Kollam district.
