Pandi Melam - Traditional Orchestra

Pandi Melam is a traditional classical orchestra of Kerala. The orchestra is led by chenda, a resounding cylindrical ethnic percussion instrument and accompanied by ilathalam (cymbals) kuzhal and kombu (wind instruments). Featured here is Pandi Melam led by the veteran percussionist Padma Shri Mattanur Sankarankutty.
