Musical ensemble at night at Sree Sundareswara temple, Kannur
Located 2 kilomteres away from Kannur town, Sree Sundareswara Temple was founded by Sree Narayana Guru, the great social reformer of Kerala. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is one of the four temples consecrated by the Guru in Kannur district. Here, Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Sundareswara (God of Beauty). The temple is open to all irrespective of their caste or religion.
The eight-day annual festival of the temple is celebrated in the months of April- May. Many religious and cultural programs add colour to the festival. The nights turn into bright days with the spectacular Ezhunnallippu procession, conducted at nighttime. Caparisoned elephants and fireworks add charm to the procession. Panchavadyam, a musical ensemble is another attraction of this ritual.
