The glorious festivities of Kodunthirappully festival
Kodunthirappully is a place nestling in the beautiful landscape of Palakkad in Kerala, India. The place is known for its annual festival that is held during the ashtami and navami days of Navarathri or Navratri in the precincts of the Adikesavaperumal temple. The celebrations, both famous and unique are in typical Kerala style and custom.
The festival has two Agraharams (Tamil Brahmin settlements) of Kodunthiruppully, competing with each other and the effect is very colourful. An air of festivities descends on the village during the festival. A procession of caparisoned elephants accompanied by traditional drum ensembles like the Panchavadyam and Chendamelam makes the event spectacular.
