An easy-to-make tribal dessert
Here is a recipe that has a very earthy feel to it; basically, a two-ingredient dessert – Keera Pori. It is made with the dried seeds of a local spinach (amaranth) and honey. It is one of the home-made desserts of the tribals. It calls for only very basic cooking; comprising dry-roasting the seeds on a hot in an earthen pan, over a wood fire. Once the seeds give off a fragrant roasted smell, they are spread on a leaf to cool; that probably imparts the seeds some flavor as anyone who has eaten a meal on a leaf, as is the practice in southern India, will tell you. Then, some honey is poured onto the seeds till it has a slightly thick consistency. Easy and delicious and more importantly, a healthy dessert.
