Kolkali, dance with sticks
Kolkali is a traditional folk art of Kerala. During the performance, the dancers move in a circle, striking small sticks and keeping rhythm with their steps.
The circle expands and contracts as the dance progresses. The accompanying music gradually rises in pitch till the dance reaches its climax.
In some places of Wayanad, certain tribal sects like the Kurumars perform the dance with regional variations.
