Kutiyattam-Part-7
Kutiyattam, a popular dance form which originated in Kerala is well acclaimed as the greatest antiquity since it dates back about two millennia. Kutiyattam is an old traditional dance performed as a temple ritual in specially made theatres called Koothambalams. Moreover UNESCO has recently claimed this art form as “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”.
This video features Kailasodharanam, a popular dance bit in Kutiyattam performance taken from the epic Ramayana which deals with the life and mission of Lord Rama. The demon King Ravana, when his way gets blocked, removes Mount Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva.
