Kutiyattam-Part-5

This video features Kailasodharanam, an inevitable part in Ramayana which depicts the life and mission of Lord Rama. Kailasodharanam is a citation where the demon King Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, when he sees his way blocked by Mount Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva, lifts the mountain.

In this video you can see the conversation between Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvathi. The Kutiyattam performer alone enacts and explains each and every character in the play. Kutiyatam which is a 2000 years old dance form has been declared by UNESCO as the “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”.
