Kutiyattam-Part-3
This video presents Kailasodharanam, an eventful chapter in Ramayana which is rendered as a part of Kutiyattam play by Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri. Kutiyattam is a well-known dance form which originated in Kerala around 2000 years ago. This art form has its own tradition and historical significance.
In this particular video, you can see the thoughts of the demon King Ravana who attempted to lift Mount Kailasa which is the abode of Lord Shiva. The performer enacts the part of an elephant and a snake that Ravana finds on his way before he lifted Mount Kailasa.
