Fr. V.P. Joseph Valiyaveettil on Kadal Vanchipattu
Here Fr. V.P. Joseph Valiyaveettil, the director of Kreupasanam Pauranika Renga Kalapeedam, a cultural academy and training center for the development of folk and ancient Christian art forms in the Indian state of Kerala, tells about the unique coastal folk art form – Kadal Vanchipattu. Kadal Vanchipattu is a coastal folk music, sung by the fisher folks in the ancient times to relieve the pain and effort of fishing.
Kreupasanam Pouranika Renga Kalapeedom, situated at Kalavoor in Alappuzha district, Kerala, is the first and the only training center for the coastal folk arts and this academy functions also as a research center in the relative fields.
