Featured here is an excerpt of Kakkarissi Natakam, a folk dance form Kerala. Got its name from the main characters, ie, Kakkalan (hero) and Kakkathi (heroine), this folk art form is noted for the social satirical element.
Popular in the southern parts of the state, this form of theatre is believed to have originated in the later half of the 18th century.
