Tunga River
One of the major rivers which originate in the Western Ghats on a hill called Varaha Parvata, the Tunga River after its origin flows through two districts, the Chikmagalur and Shimoga districts of Karnataka, south India.
Gangamoola, a cave inside the Varaha Parvata is believed to be the birth place of Tunga River. Legend says that the Tunga River was born when Varaha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu pierced the earth with his tusk. Featured in this video is the Tunga River which flows silently near a hamlet in Mathur, the last existing Sanskrit Village in the World.
