The Stone Chariot of Vittala at Hampi
It is a rock-cut chariot, of the same size of a real chariot, cut with utmost accuracy in measurements. This iconic structure is the second important stone chariot in India. Garuda, the king of birds, is the charioteer. The scenes from the Ramayana are drawn on the walls of the chariot, using natural dyes and hues.
Hampi was once the seat of the Vijayanagara Kingdom. It is situated on the southern bank of Tungabhadra River at Hospet village in Belleri district, Karnataka state, India.
