Jail inside Madikeri New Fort

Featured in this video is the jail inside the famous Madikeri Fort located in Coorg or Kodagu in the state of Karnataka, India. Built as a mud fort by Mudduraja in the last quarter of the 17th century, the Madikeri Fort had witnessed several ferocious battles. The fort underwent renovations so many times.

Erected later of brick and mortar, the Madikeri Fort had witnessed several wars. In 1790, Doddavira Rajendra took control of the fort and the palace was renovated by Lingarajendra Wodeyar II in 1812-1814. The British also contributed to the fort in 1834.
