Sri Mookambika Temple, Kollur
Sri Kollur Mookambika Temple, the only shrine dedicated to goddess Mookambika, is an ancient temple located at Kollur in Karnataka state of India. This is a prominent shrine dedicated to mother goddess in India well-known for its serene ambience and tranquility.
Located on the banks of Souparnika, the perennial river which flows close to the foothills of the Western Ghats, this temple attracts a huge number of devotees throughout the year. The history of this shrine is associated with Adi Shankara, a revered Hindu saint and Vedic scholar who perceived the idea of having this temple at Kollur.
Devotees from around the country often visit here to seek blessings from Saraswathi, the goddess of knowledge. Every year during navarathri festival (nine-night festival), heavy rush is seen here.
