Malik-E-Maidan at Bijapur, Karnataka
Located at Bijapur in Karnataka, Malik-E-Maidan means 'Monarch of the Plains' and is also known as Lion Tower. This tower holds a huge gun, weighing 55 tons, made of Panchaloha. The gun was cast at Ahmed Nagar in 1549, by Burhan Nizam Shah I, for Adil Shah, his son-in-law.
Later it was transported to Bijapur employing the service of 10 elephants and 400 oxen. The face of the gun has the image of a lion, the king of all animals, including the elephant.
