Jamia Masjid at Bijapur in Karnataka
Jamia Masjid is a mosque located at Bijapur in Karnataka state, India. This mosque was constructed during 1557 – 1580, by Ali Adil Shah, considering the galloping number of worshippers. Set in a perfect square of 1,16,000 sq. ft. 2250 persons can offer prayers at a stretch. The Central Mihrab on the western wall is inscribed with lines from the Holy Koran. This inscription was completed in 1676by Malik Yakut, under the orders from Muhammad Adil Shah.
