Jain cave among Badami caves in Karnataka
There are four Badami rock cut cave temples. Out of them three are Brahmanical temples while the fourth one is a Jain cave. These ancient rock-cut caves are embellished with carved pillars and bracket figures. The Jain cave here is embellished with carved pillars based on Jain themes. One can find various bracket figures of Lord Mahavira inside the sanctum.
There is a magnificent image of Lord Mahavira inside the Jain sanctum. There is also an image of Lord Parsvanath with a serpent at his feet and also images of Padmavathi and Tirthankaras. Badami was the capital of the early Chalukyas and is situated between two rocky hills in Karnataka state, India.
