Jagan Mohan Palace and Art Gallery at Mysore
Jagan Mohan Palace in Mysore is one of the oldest buildings built by the Kings of Mysore, Wodeyars. Located in the heart of the city this ornamental palace stands as a witness to many cultural activities and conferences. In the palace one can see two huge wooden doors with carvings of the Dashavatara (ten incarnations) of Lord Vishnu.
This palace later converted into an art gallery known as Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery in Mysore. This art gallery contains one of the largest collections of artifacts in South India. Some important collection among them is the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. Most of the collection of paintings in the gallery belongs to different Indian styles of painting like Mysore, Mughal and Shantiniketan.
