Government Museum in Madikeri
Madikeri, famed as the ‘Scotland of India’, is a popular hill station in the state of Karnataka, India. Initially known as Mercara, Madikeri represents a quaint, grand and charming view of nature. The coffee plantations here are sure to draw you near through the breathtaking views all over.
For those who love the age old culture of India, Madikeri provides you a facility to feel that ancient value with the Government Museum established in the year 1970. An archaeological museum, it houses sculptures from the 11th century AD, old photographs, old attires of Coorg Rajas and the British, old implements, arms, inscriptions, coins, bronzes and wooden carvings.
The museum is open to visitors from 09.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs except on Mondays and general holidays. Ticket issue closes earlier.
