Gagan Mahal at Bijapur in Karnataka state
Gagan Mahal, exclusively used by the royal family and was for the royal court. The platform is 80 ft wide. The arch is 18.3 meter wide. The courtyard is an open space where thousands can assemble. Located at Bijapur in Karnataka state, it is converted into a public park now.
Rulers like Chand Bibi, Ibrahim Adil Shah II, Muhammad Adil Shah and Ali Adil Shah II made this as their citadel and protected it. It was from here that Adils Shah, the last ruler was arrested by Aurangazeb, as history goes. Bijapur, the city is known as the treasure house of Islamic Architecture.
