Chamundi hills in Mysore
Chamundi hills is known for the famous temple of Chamundeshwari, (a temple dedicated to mother goddess), and was the patron deity of the Wodeyars rulers. The temple has large silver gates and golden idols and stands as a finest example of Dravidian architecture.
On the way to temple one can see the statue of Nandi, the holy bull of Lord Shiva and also a statue of Mahishasura (a demon who was killed by Goddess Chamundi or Mahishasuramardini). The hill offers panoramic view of the Mysore city or the City of Palaces in Karnataka state, India.
