Varaha Temple at Hampi
It is the Varaha temple, one of the finest architectural marvels of the Vijaynagara dynasty, is located in the northern end of the Courtesan's street at Hampi. There is a beautiful river near the temple. The temple is famous for its wall carvings. The temple complex was built in rectangular shape.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. According to Purans, Varaha (the mythical boar) is the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Hampi, a historic site was once the seat of the Vijayanagara dynasty in Karnataka. Hampi is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on the southern bank of Tungabhadra River in India.
