The Stone chariot of Vitthala temple, Hampi
The Stone chariot, an artistic wonder in stone, in front of Vijaya Vitthala temple and is the highlight of Vitthala temple complex in Hampi. This Stone chariot is in fact a shrine built in the form of a temple chariot. An image of Garuda (the eagle god and the vehicle of Lord Vishnu in Hindu mythology) was originally enshrined within its sanctum.
Hampi, a historic site was once the seat of the Vijayanagara dynasty in Karnataka. Hampi is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on the southern bank of Tungabhadra River in India.
