Camps at Sarchu
Sarchu is one of the overnight stops for travellers heading for Manali in Himachal Pradesh from Leh in Kashmir. These private run camp sites offer accommodation and food and the much needed rest for travellers after a tiring stretch of drive from Leh. Before Sarchu, travellers have the option to halt for the night at Keylong, another camping site before entering the State of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir.
The camp site at Sarchu is located on a valley floor and is surrounded by lofty peaks of the Himalayas in its southeast and northwest sides. One can also find ravines and also wind eroded structures in and around the campsite at Sarchu. The area also has a good population of the ground dwelling Himalayan Marmet and swift flying swallows.
