Shopping in Leh - Old Tibetan Refugee Market

A perfect place for shopping in Leh, is the old Tibetan Refugee market on Leh road where you come across a wide range of varied products ranging from unpolished silver and turquoise jewelry to chunky shell bangles worn by Ladakhi women. Popular for their metalware, the market here sells sonorous bowls made of nine metals like cymbals, decorative brass and copper trumpets.

Carpets adorned with traditional Persian and Kashmiri themes are also sold in this market along with native Thangka paintings, jewelry made of semi-precious stones, small prayer wheels, shawls, stoles and music bowls.
