Khardung La - A driver's delight

On reaching Khardung La in Kashmir, motorists do feel a sense of achievement. And they do have a reason for it. They are motoring through the highest road in the world! At 18,340 feet, the highest point, the road is just not a mere passing point nowadays for travelers. 

There is a cafeteria to sip in something hot and to have a bite or two. And for memento seekers; yes, you could take home some in the form of coffee mugs, T-shirts and caps at the memento shop and can start a conversation with the daring men of the Indian army, who with a perpetual smile on their face; even if you don’t have one; greet you and make you feel at home.
