Herbal medicines, Jammu and Kashmir

Exploitation of Herbal plants receives attention of the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the wide variations in topography the region of Jammu and Kashmir has a large variety of species and is rich in flora. It ranges from the thorn bush type of the arid plains to the temperate and alpine flora of the higher altitudes. Some of the prominent trees include maple, horse chestnuts and silver fir and a large number of herbal plants.
