Yakshagana Part 4
Yakshaganam, a typical folk dance form believed to be originated in Karnataka state of India. It is a 400 years old art form and is similar to Kathakali of Kerala. This dance form has a strong classical background.
Usually the performances in Yakshagana are based on the epics in Hindu mythology. Kamsavadham is a tale from Mahabharatha which portrays the killing of Kamsa, the uncle of Lord Krishna and the ruler of Mathura.
This video features the arrival of Akrura at Nandagokulam for inviting Krishna to Mathura for an archery competition. Akrura was sent by the demon king Kamsa.
