Symphony Celestial Part 1, Mohiniyattam
Mohiniyattam is a traditional and classical form of dance said to have originated in the god’s own country, Kerala, in India. This dance is around a thousand years old and was performed by women mostly in temples and royal courts.
Mohiniyattam literally means the ‘Dance of the enchantress’ and it expresses the intense feminine love with graceful steps. Anita Ratnam, a well trained classical dancer in India explains about the dance form. Swathi Padam, a citation in Mohiniyattam which praises Lord Vishnu is shown in this video.
The dance in this video is performed by Dr. Deepti Omchery Bhalla, a renowned Mohiniyattam dancer. The DVD is developed by Invis Multimedia and is available at http://www.cultureshoppe.com/products/symphony-celestial-gold-edition-indian-classical-dance-dvd-collection.php
