Nandi, Satriya dance, Assam

This video shows Nandi, a dance bit in Satriya dance which means prayers to kings, the deity, and Brahmin recited in verse at the opening of performance. The dance is rendered by renowned artiste Anita Sharma.

Satriya is a dance form which originated in the island of Majuli, situated in the middle of the Brahmaputra River in Assam, the northeastern state of India. The name Satriya is derived from Satra, the monastery of the Vaishnavite sect.
