Mizhavu Thayambaka Performance Part 2

A Mizhavu is a huge copper pot with its mouth covered by leather. It is mainly used as the lead percussion for Kutiyattam and other traditional dance forms. This video shows Mizhavu, played in the Thayambaka style and you can see a group of artistes creating harmonious blend of rhythm by Mizhavu Thayambaka.

Mizhavu Thayambaka is a massed performance of percussion instruments especially accomplished during Kutiyattam, one of the oldest classical dance forms which originated in Kerala.
