Farming in Himachal Pradesh
For a traveller, it may evoke wonder when they come across some of the difficult terrains in the State of Himachal Pradesh in India, turned into farmlands. Cereals, pulses, mushrooms and a variety of fruits are cultivated here. The traditional as well as common sources of food in Himachal Pradesh include cereals like wheat, rice and maize.
About 70% of the population in this Himalayan state is directly engaged in agricultural activities. However, the cultivated area of the state is only 10.4 per cent. The diversified seasons has much to do with the unique farming styles of this land of snow-capped mountains.
