Bharal - the goat-antelope of Himalayas
Popularly known as Himalayan Blue sheep, bharal is a goat-antelope or caprid found in the high Himalayan Mountain ranges. Preferred prey for snow leopards, Bharals are scientifically known as Pseudois nayaur. Bharals have traits that are common for both sheep and goats. The bharal is listed as least concern under the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Featured here are bharals spotted at Himalayas from Himachal Pradesh state, India.
