Agriculture in Himachal Pradesh
Agriculture is the major occupation of the people in Himachal Pradesh, which is a popular travel destination in India. About 70% of the population in this north Indian state is directly employed in agriculture. The major agricultural products are cereals like wheat, maize and rice; pulses, potato, cash crops, mushroom and vegetable seeds.
Due to its unique agro-climatic conditions, Himachal Pradesh is also home to many fruits like apple, litchi, plum, cherry, peach, pear and apricot. Being the case, Himachal Pradesh is also known as the ‘The fruit bowl of India.’
