Sandeep Shankla War Memorial at Panchkula

Major Sandeep Shankla of the Indian Army was killed in 1991 at Zafarkhani village in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, while leading an operation against terrorists. An officer of the 18 Dogra regiment, he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra; one of the gallantry awards given for army personnel in India.
Panchkula, a district in the State of Haryana in India, is also a satellite city in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
