The Natural History Museum, Chandigarh
One of the notable institutions in India, the Natural History Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh, Union Territory of India has a very rich collection of Gandharan sculptures, Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings.
Before the partition of India in August, 1947, the collection of art objects, paintings, sculptures and decorative arts were housed in the Central Museum, Lahore (which is now in Pakistan) the then capital of Punjab.
Designed by Le Corbusier, the museum has been designed to provide architectural harmony and is a unique example in conceiving art galleries as architectural monuments.
