Tamarind Sticks, Porbandar
Tamarind is a bushy tree, which grows well in sandy, loam and acidic types of soil. With leaves bright green in colour, the fruit has a juicy and acidulous pulp, which is edible. Tamarind has many culinary and medicinal uses.
Shown in this video are tamarind sticks being sold by a village woman in Porbandar, Gujarat State of India. Tamarind sticks have high medicinal value and are mostly used for strengthening the teeth. By chewing the tamarind stick the strength of the teeth can be increased and they also get cleaned.
