Sun Temple in Modhera, Gujarat
Built by King Bhimdev I in CE 1026, the Sun Temple at Modhera, Gujarat state of India, dates back to early 11th century CE. The shrine which is now in its ruined state is magnificent and has a sanctum, a pradakshina path and a sabha mandap in front. Intricately carved images of Surya, the sun god along with other wall carvings and designs adorn the shrine with its elegant appearance.
